Story about this blouse:

I thrifted it, it appeared to be brand new if not barely worn. Whenever I thrift things they get washed immediately, let's face it not the cleanest places in the whole wide world. So I proceed to wash everything- got a bunch of stuff. As I'm pulling the laundry from the washer, I notice the texture of this blouse is different. Horror strikes, I look at the label- yep 100% silk. Yeah, you don't wash silk....I'm an idiot!!

Oh, well it was a whole $2, but I'm still wearing it...it didn't really get totally ruined, it's just not the same buttery feeling against my skin.

I really like this outfit, until I came home to my husband asking, "baby, you going fly fishing?" You know that kind of put a little chink in my armor, but I don't dress for him, I dress for me. No big deal right?!

Wrong!!

I so did not enjoy looking at myself in these pics, which must be why I only took one.

I think I just had too much going on...

I was trying to be comfortable- had exams and I thought this was a better answer than a hoodie, jeans, and a hat (at least one that isn't cute)

I came off as a big mess!!

Hello there my lovely blogging friends, I thought I'd take a minute out of my awful, no good, down right bad day (tell me you remember the book!?!- oh come on!!). Yep, it's actually part of the reason I haven't been on in a minute. I am having a bad week...ok two weeks...ok month...ah forget it- the whole semester sucks!!! I often have a full plate, I am very experienced in juggling 85 million things at one time, but man I think I'm losing steam...

Let me see where to start?... Oh yes, I have 5 exams this week (yup, midterms- yippee!), on top of those I have a lab report to turn in, research to catch up on, work, and oh yeah I'm making a friends wedding cake and groom's cake this weekend!!!

I know I'm crazy....I am sooooooo tired, I got a whopping 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, the crazy part is that I was exhausted, but my mind keeps racing I can't seem to turn it off.

Confession: I was actually thinking about what I was going to say in this post- that's right I think about you guys in my dreams.

I hate that I've been away, but if it's any consolation at all, when ever I have a few minutes to spare, I do get on and check out all your awesome blogs- might be interested to know that you guys help me maintain some semblance of normalcy... thank you!!

At any rate, I'll quick crying over my keyboard. I'm actually wearing something sort of cute today, so you shall hear from me again....what? Two post in one day- I know out of control!!!

This was Tuesday. This was Monday, I'm a bit behind on my posting, I've been pretty busy with school...ahh..it'll be over soon. I was actually wearing my tall black boots and a cardigan belted because the weather said that there was a 50% chance of rain. So the whole day I'm walking around campus looking like a big old idiot carrying a HUGE umbrella in absolutely beautiful blue skies!! Wedding Reception

On Saturday we went to a wedding reception for my husband's uncle. I know I usually don't post on Saturdays, not because I don't want to, but because I usually work ALL day long. Well, today I only had to work most of the day, not ALL day- it was pretty nice!!

This is the most amazing dress I have ever owned, I feel like a million bucks and it really doesn't take much- I LUV it!

This was one of those outfits that you walk around thinking- alright I'm looking pretty delicious today!!!

And then, you come home, take your blog picture, and go : What the eff was I thinking?!!??

Yeah, I left the house feeling super fly, but when I saw these pics, I thought- great I look ridiculously dumpy- I mean this did nothing to flatter my figure...in fact, it emphasized all the bad parts of my figure!

Where do I start? Oh, yes, I know where... my BUST, okay I know a lot of people pay to have a larger bustline- but I am willing to pay to have a smaller one!!! I think that everyday I wake up I have gotten bigger up there- seriously!! I gets to the point that I feel crowded by my boobs!!

On top of that these jeans- which I thought were a score at $2, thrifted, did absolutely nothing for my thighs!!! My thighs are not that huge- look back, there's prior evidence!! I don't know, these may go into a destroy and upcycle pile, we'll see.

Ahh, I didn't have to work today, because of the holiday...it was glorious!!!! I took the opportunity to do something that I NEVER do, hang out with my girlfriends!! It was awesome, we gossiped, giggled, and I even had a drink (for those of you that don't know, I barely ever drink- I mean EVER!!!) It was true bliss! Of course, when I got home I had to clean, but I'll take the trade off!!! I kept it simple for the outing with jeans a white tee and a very lovely scarf, from someone rather wonderful!!!

Yep, I've got poison ivy :) In case you were wondering why I haven't posted in a couple of days, it's because I look a little monstrous!!! I have absolutely no idea how or where I got it, but I definitely have it. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have it right under my chin, so that everyone can see it. I feel like I've been walking around lately and people keep staring at me as if they want to tell me I have something on my face, but are too embarrassed to do so. All I want to do is point at my face and yell, "I know!!!" You know, just so they don't think I'm in the dark or anything. But, alas, I refrain! Hair Inspiration

So Lydia recently posted a call for help on cutting her hair and needing some recommendations, I thought I'd give her a hand. Seeing as I just cut all of my locks off I figured why not share my thought process behind it and the choice I made. This picture directly below is pretty much the final inspiration behind my cut. The other pictures below I came across through my search. First of all I tried to think of actresses or famous ladies with similar facial features as mine.

This is how I happened upon Mandy Moore. I don't have very distinct features, in fact more subtle I would say (I certainly don't have a square jaw line or anything like that). I feel like Mandy here shares some of those subtle features, so I liked this cut.

I really just love Cynthia Nixon and after watching SITC for the 60th time I thought I check out some of her past cuts. We don't really share many facial features, but I did really love this cut.

In addition to face shape and just general shortness, I knew I also wanted side swept bangs. I really liked the major difference of the side swept bang over the shortness of the other side. This cut was really polished, but I wanted something a little more edgy, hence the first pic.

Yep, Mandy again. I actually think this is the cut from the first pic of her just more recently trimmed, the other cut looked a little grown out. But, I did, however, love how feminine this cut looked.

All in all, I think I just got really lucky with my cut. My stylist was amazing, if you're in the Birmingham area please visit her at T Fox Salon, ask for Tracey. Otherwise, I'm a very adventurous person when it comes to my hair. I have made a dramatic cut two times before. Each time I cut this much I donate it to Locks Of Love, good cause. I guess I just figure if I don't like the cut I'll either go shorter or wear a hat for a while!! Sometimes you just have to jump in!! I hope this helps you Lydia!

Surprise! This is the reason I'm so busy! No, I'm not pregnant!! We got a puppy!!!! We have been wanting a dog for soooo long now so we finally found this little guy at a humane society in Georgia. I know right why go all the way to Georgia (I live in Alabama)? My husband wanted a specific breed (boxer), which was fine with me, but my stipulation was it had to be either from a rescue or a humane society. So we used petfinder.com to find a specific breed in an area close to our house. It took a while and we even found another dog that was promised to us and then adopted out to someone else at the last minute (broke my heart). Finally, we found "Caesar" listed for adoption. At the time of the listing he was only like 8 weeks old. He was being fostered out because the humane society he came from is not a "no kill" society, so they foster out to fix this problem. We spoke to his foster mom for a few days and then she decided we should meet, we did and he came home!!!!! We decided to name our new little boy Oliver Grant. It's very sophisticated ;) He is quite possibly the sweetest, smartest, and most cuddly dog I have ever met!!

So, you may be wondering what kind of dog he is....basically he's a mutt. He was listed as a boxer mix (which is the breed the hub's wanted), but due to his floppy ears and excess skin we also think he's got a bit of hound in him, he also has a very thick build, so he may also have a dash of pit in him...but he's very sweet. It's hard to tell how big he's going to get but he has huge paws!! In fact, a friend even thought he looked like a bull mastiff! We're thinking about 60 pounds, but all muscle. Tell me what you think he is.

Courtroom Ready

This is actually from Thursday, it's taken me awhile to post because I've been busy, and well I'll explain more tomorrow on the next post!! Very exciting though!! So, today I had to dress kind of boring because we had a mock court case to do as our final for my summer class. I don't think I want to go into what it is I'll be doing in my future career, but I will have to testify as an expert witness every once in a while, so this is supposed to be practice. My professors and professionals in the field, recommend that you dress very simply, I'm actually doing too much here. I will need to invest in a black suit. That's okay though, I felt like I still looked kind of fashionable. In regards to the "trial," they ripped me to pieces!!! We were all told that we did really well, but we all got a little ripped up!!! Anyway, if curiosity is a bit overwhelming, you can message me and I'll tell you secretly what I'm in school for, I just don't want to post it all over the internet!

Soooo, where have I been right? Well, occasionally I would mention that I was getting married and well it finally happened!!! I'm sorry about the lack of posting leading up to the wedding, but it was quite chaotic for the last two months. I'll tell you though if I knew then what I know now we would have totally eloped!! But that being said it was totally worth it, we had a wonderful day, it was absolutely perfect. A Little Pep in my Step

Ahh, ladies (and perhaps gentlemen) I won't lie to you all, I've been a little down lately. I feel like the walls are closing in on me. I'm always really busy, it's just who I am but lately I can't seem to get a moment to catch my breath, or just catch up period! In addition, to feeling a little claustrophobic I've been less than confident about my body too. In June of last year I hired a personal trainer. No, I don't make that kind of money, but I decided to finally do something for myself. I did great! I mean I've never felt so good, it wasn't that I necessarily lost a lot of weight, it was more that my whole body was changing. I lost 2 dress sizes and about 10 pounds. Because I've been so busy lately, I can't seem to find the time to workout (I can no longer afford the trainer, so this doesn't help). At any rate, just not feeling uber confident, so I decided to wear something peppy!! I like this outfit, in fact, I have had this blue and green blouse for a few months but haven't been able to figure out how to wear it, I think I got it!

I apologize for the delay in the promised post...I was reading all your lovely blogs on sunday and then my power went out due to a storm, so I couldn't then. Then, yesterday the power was back on until about 7, which is when I got home from class. I think the power company was trying to repair some of the downed lines, because there was certainly nothing else going on. Yep, that's the way my life's been, a mess!! I've been so incredibly busy with school, I had to prepare my proposal for my thesis and then present that to my advisors...so been insane! In addition to all of this I am currently battling a mystery illness, I keep getting overheated, feeling faint, and experience migraine strength headaches with the light and noise sensivity and all... I know I don't know what's going on, so I plan on seeing the Doc to see what it is I'm agonizing over. Ah, don't worry I'll live :) At any rate, this is actually what I wore on Thursday. So, I'd like to introduce to you all for the first time ever Josiah Alexander Paul!!! My nephew was born on Saturday at 5:52 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 ozs. and measuring 20 1/4 inches. He is the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! I had no idea how magical child birth could be, needless to say I'm a bit enamored. Here he is though...I'll try to post a great pic that's on my phone once I figure out how to do that :)

Am I the only one that has trouble with the whole green thing on this day? It's not that I don't like green, I love it, it just doesn't like me. Well, I should be more specific, basically any shade lighter than this one doesn't like me...they make me look sickly. Anything darker than this is good, but for some reason I very rarely find anything that I like style and fit wise. I absolutely love this top! I went thrifting recently and found it and thought, "Hmm, interesting, I'm not really sure, but what the hell!" I have to belt it though because it otherwise looks like a box. Otherwise, I love the tie detail, if I could have only tie blouses I would be okay with that! 1 Skirt 3 Ways Challenge: Day 1

So, I am finally starting the challenge posed by Jane, to pick just one skirt and wear it three different ways. Today was so beautiful and light I thought this skirt was perfect!! I don't know if anyone remembers but this is actually the skirt from my very first post. The thing I like about it is that it transitions well between weather and since I live in Alabama, the weather is insanely random. I know that the print is recognizable, but I like that because it poses a challenge for me to mix it up without looking the same. Oh, you may be wondering why no head today, not wearing makeup right then and trust me you don't want to see this!

Michelle Obama Challenge

I feel like such a lady today. Michelle Obama has such a wonderful, streamlined, classic, ladylike style about her. Her look seems so easy and no fuss, but I'll tell you it took me a good minute to figure out what to wear- this is what I came up with. I love the jewel tones that Mrs. O usually rocks, I've also noticed she's a big fan of cardigans (as am I), so I thought that I'd rock both out in one garment. I also love what she does with her brooches, so I tried my hand at it. Even though Mrs. O doesn't usually wear hose/tights, you guys just aren't ready for the whiteness that would be if I didn't put some one ;) I also rocked the flats just like the lovely first lady (I, however, am a sad 5'7"). You know what's funny? My fiance and I argued about whether or not Mrs. O wore flats, he claimed that "no, she wears heels!" I said, "oh, you dear thing, you have no clue!" I explained that I would have to school him later!! hehe...

I found this blouse, obviously for dirt cheap and haven't had a clue with what to pair it with. As you can see it's a little boxy, and since I'm quite busty it has a tendency to make me look preggers when I'm not. So I think I found a combination that I really like.

These are the earrings that I wore today, I have been looking for some like these, and I love them!

These boots are like an old classic for me, I've had them for at least 5 years.

Kinda plain, but Pink!

So today my outfit had to be pretty practical. I had to be in a lab setting for a number of hours, so that means long pants and closed toed shoes, and for my preference- hair back! Anyway, I thought I would pop this boring outfit with a pepto pink!! It makes me cheerful and giddy, although those that know me know that doesn't take much. At any rate, you may expect something equally as practical tomorrow, haven't decided yet though!

These are the colors of my Alma mater!!! I haven't ever worn this color combination until now, and you know I think I felt like I looked better than the way I actually look in this pic. I don't know, the skirt is kinda of funky and the cardigan makes me feel like a lady. However, I think the problem I'm having with the picture is that the yellow is too light with this dark purple. It's like Kasmira says about pairing colors, to pair the same ,and the woman definitely knows what she's talking about. So I think that I'm going to have to search for a darker yellow top!! All Gray

No I'm not wearing all gray, instead to my horror I found not even a gray hair but a white hair!!! I'm only 25, how can this be??? Alright, I think I'm over that now...just had to get that off my chest!! Other than the white horror, my day's been pretty crazy!! I'm planning my brother and sister-in-law's baby shower, trying to get my wedding plans in order, and running presumptive blood tests at school!! Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I weren't running 90 to nothing!! At any rate, I'm feeling kind of springy. It was finally warm enough to at least roll up my sleeves, yippee!! Alright, I'll get on to the goods....

This is my favorite purchase ever!!! I had been wanting a black trench coat for so long and I found this one this summer at Ross, tried it on and it was like it was made just for me!!

This is the sister to the black suede wedge heels I had posted with my wonderful skirt on Thursday's post. I really like them, first time wearing them so a little uncomfortable, but I think they're going to fit in nicely with the rest of my closet!!

So when my fiance saw me today he laughed at my outfit! That made me a bit upset, but who cares what he thinks, you should see some of his outfits!!! At any rate, I initially said that I wanted to take risks, and I think this outfit is kind of risky, in that you either love it or you hate it. In addition to taking risks, this outfit is about necessity...you see I have on several layers on account of the fact that there are actual snow flurries in Alabama!! That is crazy, this very rarely happens (for those unfamiliar with AL weather). Also this is only the second time I've worn this gray and white dress, I can't really decide what to do with it. I mean I like it, but the first time I wore it, I actually wore it as a dress, which I don't believe I'll do again because it's just a bit too short to go it alone. So, I've been struggling with it. This is what I came up with, but I do plan on trying to work it a little bit more. So, if you don't like it, I was very warm!!!

I literally just fell into these boots. A friend of mine was telling me that she was going to return some boots that she had gotten at target, she got to talking about them, and I asked what size they were- my size!! At any rate I bought them off her for the price she paid! The best part is that I've been looking for a pair of rain boots (but I'm cheap so haven't found any "good" enough for me) and tada they're mine!

Oh my goodness, it is absolutely ridiculous how much I love this skirt!! I have been dying to wear it, bought it about a month ago at Old Navy. My mom and stepdad gave me a $50 gift card to there and you wouldn't believe me if I told, but I'll tell you anyway, I got 16 items and only went $15 over the gift card amount....and this skirt was one of my finds!! I love how springy, yet almost seductive the flowers feel, plus I think that the stripes add a little something interesting to it too. It's taken me awhile to think of an outfit to put together with it, but I really like this one!!

Just having some fun!!

I can't believe I actually found these gems at the thrift store, I mean I've found clothes and such and occasionally look at the shoes, but haven't found any until now! I love the knotted detail at the toe! Oh, I found another pair of heels a lot like these but with a closed toe and a little sleeker, assuming someone donated both pairs.

Oh, and I was trying to explain why my pics may look a little crooked, it's because this is my very high tech setup. That little thing on top of the bucket is actually my tripod, cute isn't it?! It's just not wanting to support the weight of the camera completely, can you blame it, it's so tiny!!

So, I'm particularly sure I like this outfit today, I didn't really do anything special, just ran some errands before work tonight, but I feel like I look a little bit like a french maid! I don't know, I suppose I'd like your opinions please!! You know, though, something I've decided is that I really like the way these jeans look on me, I wasn't totally convinced they did anything for me, but am now reconsidering that thought.

lAs in my fingertips!! I'm freezing today, and because I'm incredibly intelligent I left the house today without a coat!! In addition to the big me freeze, I started back at the gym today (was out for a month- stupid!!) and I am barely able to type this post my whole upper body hurts so much!!! I don't know why but for some reason when I was taking these pics, I kept hearing Joe Cocker's "You can leave your hat on" in my head, go figure!! At any rate, this is my outfit today, I have school on M, T, Th, and as I posted in the beginning I try to dress as I would be going to the job I want. I think that denim is ok as long as it's a dark wash, after all I am still at school.

I would like to first start by saying thank you for all the lovely comments thus far, I really appreciate them, and I agree with you Sheila when you said you get to know what your body actually looks like. So, today is obviously Sunday and something you must know about me and Sunday is that I do practically nothing, I usually work for 24 hours combined on friday and saturday (don't know why I didn't capitalize these too) and am quite tired by Sunday (back at it again). Anywho, I just kind of laze around, but was feeling the bubblegum pink today!!

Hello!!

Alright!! I'm totally stoked to start this blog!! I have been perusing quite a few blogs for several months now and have been saying that I need to start one too! Why, do you ask, well I'll tell you why....

For several reasons:
1. To build up my confidence.....it's not that I'm lacking in confidence, but I want it to translate through my clothing that I know who I am and that I may just rock your world. I want to be able to enter a room and have people think "man that girl must know what she's doing"....at any rate I want to be able to hold my head higher because I know that I look good.

2. To get to know my body better.......by this I don't mean that I don't know the way my body looks, I do, I just want to find out how to better compliment my body through clothing. I have a very womanly body, which I love, I have a large bust and "child birthing hips," very curvy...I don't want to lose my silhouette I want to accentuate my form.

3. To take risks......I want to reach out of my comfort zone a little bit and dabble in different things, I like to keep it fresh and new and leave them guessing "what next?"

So that's why in a nutshell. In addition to these reasons, I am currently working on my masters degree and am a firm believer in dressing for the job I want, not necessarily the job I have, because I'm otherwise a waitress (not the most glamorous wardrobe). I believe that a first impression is a lasting impression, so when I'm not waiting tables I try to look my best. That being said, I will probably not post on the weekend, as I have a tendency to work all day on the weekends, but I should have a fair number of posts a week.

Whew....gosh I swear I'm going to stop talking soon....finally, I was hoping that anyone viewing this blog would offer me some constructive criticism, thoughts, views, opinions, etc... It would be greatly appreciated!!
