Fisherman

I really like this outfit, until I came home to my husband asking, "baby, you going fly fishing?" You know that kind of put a little chink in my armor, but I don't dress for him, I dress for me. No big deal right?!
Wrong!!
I so did not enjoy looking at myself in these pics, which must be why I only took one.
I think I just had too much going on...
I was trying to be comfortable- had exams and I thought this was a better answer than a hoodie, jeans, and a hat (at least one that isn't cute)
I came off as a big mess!!
Oh well, fashion blunders happen I guess...
It's funny because I like these pieces all separately, but apparently their powers combine, they are a serious fashion felony (you were thinking I was going to say CAPTAIN PLANET, weren't you- it's okay, I'm singing the theme song right now too;)

My seriously dreadful outfit:
Hat- gifted
Gray sweater- $7, Target
Crochet tank- $4, Old Navy
Vest- $3, Old Navy
Jeans- hand me downs
Earrings- $3, Walmart
Belt- $6, Walmart
Rain boots- $15, Target
Total cost: $38

Blech!!

This was one of those outfits that you walk around thinking- alright I'm looking pretty delicious today!!!
And then, you come home, take your blog picture, and go : What the eff was I thinking?!!??
Yeah, I left the house feeling super fly, but when I saw these pics, I thought- great I look ridiculously dumpy- I mean this did nothing to flatter my figure...in fact, it emphasized all the bad parts of my figure!
Where do I start? Oh, yes, I know where... my BUST, okay I know a lot of people pay to have a larger bustline- but I am willing to pay to have a smaller one!!! I think that everyday I wake up I have gotten bigger up there- seriously!! I gets to the point that I feel crowded by my boobs!!
On top of that these jeans- which I thought were a score at $2, thrifted, did absolutely nothing for my thighs!!! My thighs are not that huge- look back, there's prior evidence!! I don't know, these may go into a destroy and upcycle pile, we'll see.
What's that you say? Is she done yet?
Well, yes, yes I am...
I apologize for the rant, but I hate these days!!
My Wretched Outfit:
Fushia houndstooth cami- gifted, Express
White ruffly button-up- $2, thrifted
Jeans- $2, thrifted

Finally, some details:
Let me tell you how much I LOVE this headband, $6 is a little steep for me and headwear- but I LOVE it!!

Yep,these guys again!

Best thing EVER!!

So, I'd like to introduce to you all for the first time ever Josiah Alexander Paul!!! My nephew was born on Saturday at 5:52 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 ozs. and measuring 20 1/4 inches. He is the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! I had no idea how magical child birth could be, needless to say I'm a bit enamored. Here he is though...I'll try to post a great pic that's on my phone once I figure out how to do that :)

Sorry, I'd like to apologize for the lack of posting lately, life has been crazy, but totally worth it!!!
This is actually what I wore on Sunday, to have lunch with the FI and go to the hospital to see my little wonder!!

First times a charm

This was actually the first picture that I took and I liked it, unusual for me since it takes like 10 shots. Ok, so I'm not what you would call a super confident person, in my looks that is, I'm very confident in my capabilities, skills, etc... but when it comes to my looks I have my good days and well I have my bad (perhaps more often then not), so what am I getting at? I really love the way my legs look today!!! Ok, enough of the self absorption, just had to get it out there:)

My Outfit:
White dress- $6, Belk
Blue cardigan- $4 , thrifted
Heels- $8, JC Penney
Belt- $7, Burlington (Calvin Klein)
Earrings- $1, Dollar Tree
Circular brooch- $1.40 , thrifted

Very Girly

I absolutely love this top! I went thrifting recently and found it and thought, "Hmm, interesting, I'm not really sure, but what the hell!" I have to belt it though because it otherwise looks like a box. Otherwise, I love the tie detail, if I could have only tie blouses I would be okay with that! I thought I would do like Futurelint today, no actually it rained all day again!!! And my hair is very wavy with a dash of curl, so when there are days like this it frizzes out of control!!
My Outfit:
Pink tie blouse- $2.50, thrifted
Brown tank- $3, JC Penney
Cream cardigan- $2, thrifted
Jeans- $20, Express
Boots- $20, Rack Room shoes
Belt- $0.60, thrifted
Earrings- $2, Cato
Total Cost: $50.10

I actually forgot to put on earrings this morning, and felt so naked, fortunately I had these in my purse :)

1 Skirt 3 Ways, Day 3

This isn't the outfit I actually planned out in my mind...instead I decided to step out of the box and pull a page out of the book of Diane and wear my skirt as a top! I wasn't very sure about this at first because the back of my "top" was a bit longer than the front, but then I decided I liked the asymmetrical look of it after all. Since I was really stretching it by wearing the skirt on top I decided to sort of play it safe with the rest of the outfit!
My Outfit:
Skirt as top- $4, Cato
Black cardigan- $3, thrifted
Jeans- $9, TJ Maxx
Belt- $5, Plato's Closet
Boots- $14.50, Belk
Necklace & Earring set- $4 , Shirley's
Brooch- free with purchase
Total Cost: $ 39.50

1 Skirt 3 Ways Challenge: Day 1

So, I am finally starting the challenge posed by Jane, to pick just one skirt and wear it three different ways. Today was so beautiful and light I thought this skirt was perfect!! I don't know if anyone remembers but this is actually the skirt from my very first post. The thing I like about it is that it transitions well between weather and since I live in Alabama, the weather is insanely random. I know that the print is recognizable, but I like that because it poses a challenge for me to mix it up without looking the same. Oh, you may be wondering why no head today, not wearing makeup right then and trust me you don't want to see this!
My Outift:
Teal Shirt- $3, Walmart
Brown floral skirt- $4, Cato
Belt- $2, thrifted
Sandals- $1, Cato
Necklace- gifted, for graduation
Earrings- $1, Dollar tree
Total Cost: $11
A very bad close-up of my necklace:

Okay, I cannot express into words how much I loooove these sandals!! I bought them during winter, when the stores are just dying to get rid of their leftover summer stuff, this is actually how I buy most things, I very rarely shop in-season. At any rate, perfectly good sandals only $1.

Sassy Librarian

Today I feel like a sassy librarian, you'll see why when you scroll down some more ;)
Yep, I wear glasses! Well, reading glasses (doesn't that sound a little old lady?). At any rate I've had them since the fifth grade, the doc says my eyes struggle to translate what they are seeing, so the specs help me out a bit... don't tell anyone but I think I need some full time specs too...putting it off for a few more years, hopefully!
My Outfit:
Black/white blouse- $12, Ross
Red cardigan- $2, thrifted
Jeans- $9, TJ Maxx

Blast from the Past

I feel like I should be in Saturday Night Fever in these pants!!! Does it look like I'm gonna bust out into a strut? I might!! I can't help it I love these pants!!

My Outfit:
Blue tee- $3, Walmart
Ruffled floral blouse- $2, Old Navy
Cardigan- $2, thrifted
SNF Jeans- $15, Old Navy
Boots- $15, Rack Room Shoes
Belt- $0.60, thrifted
Bracelet- $1, Dollar tree
Earrings- $3.50, thrifted (Avon originally)
Total Cost- $42.10
I found this blouse, obviously for dirt cheap and haven't had a clue with what to pair it with. As you can see it's a little boxy, and since I'm quite busty it has a tendency to make me look preggers when I'm not. So I think I found a combination that I really like.

These are the earrings that I wore today, I have been looking for some like these, and I love them!

These boots are like an old classic for me, I've had them for at least 5 years.

Go Falcons!

These are the colors of my Alma mater!!! I haven't ever worn this color combination until now, and you know I think I felt like I looked better than the way I actually look in this pic. I don't know, the skirt is kinda of funky and the cardigan makes me feel like a lady. However, I think the problem I'm having with the picture is that the yellow is too light with this dark purple. It's like Kasmira says about pairing colors, to pair the same ,and the woman definitely knows what she's talking about. So I think that I'm going to have to search for a darker yellow top!! Anywhoo, on to the outfit:
Black tee- $3, Walmart
Yellow cardigan- $3, thrifted
Purple polka dot skirt-$4, Cato
Black tights- $5, (George) Walmart
Black suede peep toe wedges- $3, thrifted
Black belt- free with purchase of dress
Earrings- $2, Cato
Bracelet- $0.60, Cato
Brooch- free with purchase of blouse
Total Cost- $20.60
I love this bracelet!! I lucked out at the thrift store! It's so funky and cool!! (Sorry for the blurrish pic, if anyone can provide suggestions on how to get close-ups of my accessories without all the blur I would love that!!)

You've seen these!! Still love them!

Feelin Blue....

lAs in my fingertips!! I'm freezing today, and because I'm incredibly intelligent I left the house today without a coat!! In addition to the big me freeze, I started back at the gym today (was out for a month- stupid!!) and I am barely able to type this post my whole upper body hurts so much!!! Oh, well it's worth it, and to be honest I kinda like it ;)

My Outfit:
Blue striped button down shirt- $6, Old Navy
Blue cotton tee- $3, Walmart
Trousers- $15, Old Navy
Belt- $0.60, thrifted
Long necklace and earring set- gifted
Shorter necklace- made by me
Heels (can actually see them below)- $9, Payless
Total Cost- $33.60
My crazy small tripod (I'll show you later) was dropping the camera by like a centimeter and in doing so cut off my feet! Anywho, I wanted to send a shout out to Sheila to be kind enough to share her weight loss details with us all, you are an inspiration for us all, thank you!!

Hey I'm new here

Hello!!

Alright!! I'm totally stoked to start this blog!! I have been perusing quite a few blogs for several months now and have been saying that I need to start one too! Why, do you ask, well I'll tell you why....

For several reasons:
1. To build up my confidence.....it's not that I'm lacking in confidence, but I want it to translate through my clothing that I know who I am and that I may just rock your world. I want to be able to enter a room and have people think "man that girl must know what she's doing"....at any rate I want to be able to hold my head higher because I know that I look good.

2. To get to know my body better.......by this I don't mean that I don't know the way my body looks, I do, I just want to find out how to better compliment my body through clothing. I have a very womanly body, which I love, I have a large bust and "child birthing hips," very curvy...I don't want to lose my silhouette I want to accentuate my form.

3. To take risks......I want to reach out of my comfort zone a little bit and dabble in different things, I like to keep it fresh and new and leave them guessing "what next?"

So that's why in a nutshell. In addition to these reasons, I am currently working on my masters degree and am a firm believer in dressing for the job I want, not necessarily the job I have, because I'm otherwise a waitress (not the most glamorous wardrobe). I believe that a first impression is a lasting impression, so when I'm not waiting tables I try to look my best. That being said, I will probably not post on the weekend, as I have a tendency to work all day on the weekends, but I should have a fair number of posts a week.

Whew....gosh I swear I'm going to stop talking soon....finally, I was hoping that anyone viewing this blog would offer me some constructive criticism, thoughts, views, opinions, etc... It would be greatly appreciated!!

So, without further ado....My first outfit details!
