Silk Wash

Story about this blouse:

I thrifted it, it appeared to be brand new if not barely worn. Whenever I thrift things they get washed immediately, let's face it not the cleanest places in the whole wide world. So I proceed to wash everything- got a bunch of stuff. As I'm pulling the laundry from the washer, I notice the texture of this blouse is different. Horror strikes, I look at the label- yep 100% silk. Yeah, you don't wash silk....I'm an idiot!!

Oh, well it was a whole $2, but I'm still wearing it...it didn't really get totally ruined, it's just not the same buttery feeling against my skin.

My Outfit:

Polka dot blouse- $2, thrifted

Cardi- $2, thrifted

Jeans- $20, Express

Flats- $13, Burlington

Brooch- free with purchase

Earrings-$2, Walmart

Total Cost: $39

I had actually planned on wearing the lovely polka dots with this red cardigan:

But the cut was all wrong, you see the magnificent ruffles of the blouse had to be framed in all their glory, this cardigan would have totally taken away from the ruffleness.

Fisherman

I really like this outfit, until I came home to my husband asking, "baby, you going fly fishing?" You know that kind of put a little chink in my armor, but I don't dress for him, I dress for me. No big deal right?!
Wrong!!
I so did not enjoy looking at myself in these pics, which must be why I only took one.
I think I just had too much going on...
I was trying to be comfortable- had exams and I thought this was a better answer than a hoodie, jeans, and a hat (at least one that isn't cute)
I came off as a big mess!!
Oh well, fashion blunders happen I guess...
It's funny because I like these pieces all separately, but apparently their powers combine, they are a serious fashion felony (you were thinking I was going to say CAPTAIN PLANET, weren't you- it's okay, I'm singing the theme song right now too;)

My seriously dreadful outfit:
Hat- gifted
Gray sweater- $7, Target
Crochet tank- $4, Old Navy
Vest- $3, Old Navy
Jeans- hand me downs
Earrings- $3, Walmart
Belt- $6, Walmart
Rain boots- $15, Target

Jazz Hands!!

This was Tuesday. I was running late, so I chose something very basic, but at the last minute decided to add a little bit of interest and throw on a scarf as a belt- it's my interpretation of jazz hands, in clothing form!! I loved the look, but perhaps next time I'll chose a pair of pants that fit me really well, so I'm not pulling them up all the time- no the most practical belt of all!!

My Outfit:
Black tee- $3, Walmart
Jeans- hand me downs
Flats- $10, Burlington Coat Factory
Scarf- $1, AC Moore (yea, the craft place)

Obsessed

I feel like I've been obsessed with purple lately, could be me- but I AM!!!
I felt very equestrian club like today. Don't get me wrong, I actually felt really good in this all day, in fact, this woman was looking at me as if to say, "OMG, doesn't she know you don't pair black and brown?"
On the inside, I was saying, "Eat it up lady!!!Yeah, I make the rules here!"
On the inside...
Look at my freaking dog..he is too cute- little model in training!!

Blech!!

This was one of those outfits that you walk around thinking- alright I'm looking pretty delicious today!!!
And then, you come home, take your blog picture, and go : What the eff was I thinking?!!??
Yeah, I left the house feeling super fly, but when I saw these pics, I thought- great I look ridiculously dumpy- I mean this did nothing to flatter my figure...in fact, it emphasized all the bad parts of my figure!
Where do I start? Oh, yes, I know where... my BUST, okay I know a lot of people pay to have a larger bustline- but I am willing to pay to have a smaller one!!! I think that everyday I wake up I have gotten bigger up there- seriously!! I gets to the point that I feel crowded by my boobs!!
On top of that these jeans- which I thought were a score at $2, thrifted, did absolutely nothing for my thighs!!! My thighs are not that huge- look back, there's prior evidence!! I don't know, these may go into a destroy and upcycle pile, we'll see.
What's that you say? Is she done yet?
Well, yes, yes I am...
I apologize for the rant, but I hate these days!!
My Wretched Outfit:
Fushia houndstooth cami- gifted, Express
White ruffly button-up- $2, thrifted
Jeans- $2, thrifted
Headband- $6, Shi
Belt- $2, thrifted
Earrings- $2, Walmart
Total Cost: $14
Finally, some details:
Let me tell you how much I LOVE this headband, $6 is a little steep for me and headwear- but I LOVE it!!

Yep,these guys again!

This was Monday

I felt like my style has been a little boring lately, so I decided to mix up my color palette just a little bit. I actually really like how this turned out, I needed something simple and easy...what's more simple or easy than a cami and a cardi.

I've been reading about "uniforms" and I guess this would be my go to look when I have no idea and can't make my mind up.

My Outfit:

Cami- $5, I think Walmart (had it forever!!)

Cardigan- $4, Thrifted

Jeans- hand me downs

Earrings- $2, Shirley's

Flips- $1, Cato

Total Cost: $ 12

Wow, that's pretty cheap, even for me!!

Apparently my super fave for the summer:

Oh, did you notice the puppy again- what a photo fiend!!! Eednic over at Fashionably eLate asked what kind of dog I had, and to be quite honest...he's a mutt. He was marketed on the humane society website as a "boxer mix" but we see a few different breed, truthfully, your guess is as good as mine!!

Saturday: Lunch With the Girls

Ahh, I didn't have to work today, because of the holiday...it was glorious!!!! I took the opportunity to do something that I NEVER do, hang out with my girlfriends!! It was awesome, we gossiped, giggled, and I even had a drink (for those of you that don't know, I barely ever drink- I mean EVER!!!) It was true bliss! Of course, when I got home I had to clean, but I'll take the trade off!!! I kept it simple for the outing with jeans a white tee and a very lovely scarf, from someone rather wonderful!!!
Todays Outfit:
White tee- $3, Walmart
Jeans- hand me downs (my SIL gave me lots!!)
Flats- $9, JC Penney
Belt- $9, Burlington
Scarf- From the Lovely Lydia
Earrings- $2, Cato
Puppy- gift from my bro and SIL
Total Cost: $23
Soooo, I don't know if you've noticed but Ollie (our pup) LOVES the camera. It's really funny because he'll be minding his own business until he hears the timer going off on the camera, then he'll saunter on over and place himself right behind me. What can I say I've created a monster!!! Maybe I'll start dressing him so he can at least contribute some fashion, sure he's cute, but some fashion please!!!
Oh again with the no detail shots :( Sorry, and you do have to see these flats and earrings too!! I promise, next time!!
Oh, I almost forgot! So, my birthday is this friday, 9-11 ( I know, sucks, but I came first so there!!)- gah I love exclamations, imagine what I sound like- chances are you got it! So, where was I? Oh yes, my birthday (26- yikes!) my hubs has surprised me with a beach trip, very last minute, so I will totally be out of commission until Monday. Have no fear, I will be taking pictures, but prob won't be able to upload until I get back. We'll see, maybe I'll be crazy and blog while there, why not, I DO have to study for analytical chemistry regardless (not that this is anywhere near analytical chemistry- ack!) Alright, I'll quit my ramblings, see you laters!!

Gray beaded tank- $8, Old Navy

I don't think I've ever worn these on the blog before, I got then on a BOGO event at payless at the beach of all places a couple of years ago!

My hair didn't look as craptastic as it did in the first picture...it was raining today and I didn't have an umbrella, so the curl and wave made it big. This was actually the other day, but it looked almost exactly like this today.

The back:
Have I mentioned how much I loooove my hair?!

What a mess!

Yep, that's the way my life's been, a mess!! I've been so incredibly busy with school, I had to prepare my proposal for my thesis and then present that to my advisors...so been insane! In addition to all of this I am currently battling a mystery illness, I keep getting overheated, feeling faint, and experience migraine strength headaches with the light and noise sensivity and all... I know I don't know what's going on, so I plan on seeing the Doc to see what it is I'm agonizing over. Ah, don't worry I'll live :) At any rate, this is actually what I wore on Thursday. I do plan on posting regularly again on Sunday!

Very Girly

I absolutely love this top! I went thrifting recently and found it and thought, "Hmm, interesting, I'm not really sure, but what the hell!" I have to belt it though because it otherwise looks like a box. Otherwise, I love the tie detail, if I could have only tie blouses I would be okay with that! I thought I would do like Futurelint today, no actually it rained all day again!!! And my hair is very wavy with a dash of curl, so when there are days like this it frizzes out of control!!
My Outfit:
Pink tie blouse- $2.50, thrifted
Brown tank- $3, JC Penney
Cream cardigan- $2, thrifted
Jeans- $20, Express
Boots- $20, Rack Room shoes
Belt- $0.60, thrifted
Earrings- $2, Cato
Total Cost: $50.10

I actually forgot to put on earrings this morning, and felt so naked, fortunately I had these in my purse :)

1 Skirt 3 Ways, Day 3

This isn't the outfit I actually planned out in my mind...instead I decided to step out of the box and pull a page out of the book of Diane and wear my skirt as a top! I wasn't very sure about this at first because the back of my "top" was a bit longer than the front, but then I decided I liked the asymmetrical look of it after all. Since I was really stretching it by wearing the skirt on top I decided to sort of play it safe with the rest of the outfit!
My Outfit:
Skirt as top- $4, Cato
Black cardigan- $3, thrifted
Jeans- $9, TJ Maxx
Belt- $5, Plato's Closet
Boots- $14.50, Belk
Necklace & Earring set- $4 , Shirley's
Brooch- free with purchase
Total Cost: $ 39.50

No skirt just yet...

I didn't wear the skirt for the skirt challenge yet, gonna start tomorrow though...today I just wanted something a little more casual and more low key so this is what I went for:
Today's Outfit:
White tee- $3, Walmart
Pink blouse- gifted from my mom
Skinny jeans- $9, TJ Maxx
Silver sandals- gifted from my mom
Headband- $1, Walmart ($3 for 3 pk.)
Earrings- gifted
Necklace- $1, Dollar Tree
Total cost: $14

I think these are the sandals I'm actually planning to wear for my wedding, I know I'm very untraditional. My mom picked these up for me while she lived in Australia for this purpose, they're still really pretty, but they're also pretty comfortable, and I'm trying to wear them in a little bit so that they're even more comfortable on the big day.

Finally! I'm Back!

So, I don't know if you've missed me but I've missed you!! I'm pretty much back to good, just a little cough and some sniffles, but it'll work. I know that I promised a post on Saturday, and I will deliver but I didn't get a chance to take a pic, so I'm gonna recreate the look, exactly what I wore and post that- that should work!! Anyway, I'm really glad to be back!!
My Outfit:
Gray sweater- $7 , Target
Black crochet cami- $4, Old Navy
Green Jacket- $7, TJ Maxx
Jeans- $20, Express
Red patch heels- $14, Rack Room Shoes
Necklace- $4, Belk

Earrings- $2, Shirley's (in a $4 set)
