Courtroom Ready

This is actually from Thursday, it's taken me awhile to post because I've been busy, and well I'll explain more tomorrow on the next post!! Very exciting though!! So, today I had to dress kind of boring because we had a mock court case to do as our final for my summer class. I don't think I want to go into what it is I'll be doing in my future career, but I will have to testify as an expert witness every once in a while, so this is supposed to be practice. My professors and professionals in the field, recommend that you dress very simply, I'm actually doing too much here. I will need to invest in a black suit. That's okay though, I felt like I still looked kind of fashionable. In regards to the "trial," they ripped me to pieces!!! We were all told that we did really well, but we all got a little ripped up!!! Anyway, if curiosity is a bit overwhelming, you can message me and I'll tell you secretly what I'm in school for, I just don't want to post it all over the internet!
Today's Outfit:
Black blouse- $10, Ross
Gray skirt- $4, Ross
Red kitten heels- $10, Payless
Long pink earrings- gifted, Claire's
Total Cost: $24
What's that you say? I look different? It could be because I got 14 inches of my hair cut off!! Check it out!

Back view:
I love it!!! It's actually a very edgy cut, it's longer on one side than the other, I feel like a badass rocker chick!!

Oh and the shoes of course!

Sailor Chic

This is what I wore on Monday. I was actually in a bit of a rush on this day and had to sort of throw something together...it was going to be kind of boring but then I threw in the red and then it got interesting, sailor interesting. Actually I don't know why I chose sailor, it's just very patriotic all together!!
This is sadly the only pic I had time for. I'm thinking about hemming the skirt up to my knee, but then I'll lose the bottom detail, could I get some input?
My Outfit:
Blue cami- $3, JC Penney
White blouse- $6, Old Navy
Blue floral skirt- $4 , thrifted
Red kitten heels- $10, Payless
Necklace and Earring set -$4, Shirley's

Best thing EVER!!

So, I'd like to introduce to you all for the first time ever Josiah Alexander Paul!!! My nephew was born on Saturday at 5:52 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 ozs. and measuring 20 1/4 inches. He is the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! I had no idea how magical child birth could be, needless to say I'm a bit enamored. Here he is though...I'll try to post a great pic that's on my phone once I figure out how to do that :)

Sorry, I'd like to apologize for the lack of posting lately, life has been crazy, but totally worth it!!!
This is actually what I wore on Sunday, to have lunch with the FI and go to the hospital to see my little wonder!!

1 Skirt 3 Ways, Day 3

This isn't the outfit I actually planned out in my mind...instead I decided to step out of the box and pull a page out of the book of Diane and wear my skirt as a top! I wasn't very sure about this at first because the back of my "top" was a bit longer than the front, but then I decided I liked the asymmetrical look of it after all. Since I was really stretching it by wearing the skirt on top I decided to sort of play it safe with the rest of the outfit!
My Outfit:
Skirt as top- $4, Cato
Black cardigan- $3, thrifted
Jeans- $9, TJ Maxx
Belt- $5, Plato's Closet
Boots- $14.50, Belk
Necklace & Earring set- $4 , Shirley's
Brooch- free with purchase
Total Cost: $ 39.50

1 Skirt 3 Ways, Day 2

Well, this is actually what I wore on Saturday. It was cold and very rainy all day long so I had to winterize a bit. All in all I liked the outfit, just not so sure about the denim jacket, FI didn't like it and truthfully I'm not sure if I did or not. If I could get some feedback on it that would be awesome!
My Outfit:
White button- up- $3, JC Penney
Fushia blouse- $6 , Old Navy
Jean Jacket- had since I was in high school (my parents paid for it)
Skirt- $4, Cato
Tights- $5, Walmart (George)
Boots- gifted, Walmart (George)
Earrings- $1, Dollar Tree
Pashmina- gifted
Total Cost- $19

1 Skirt 3 Ways Challenge: Day 1

So, I am finally starting the challenge posed by Jane, to pick just one skirt and wear it three different ways. Today was so beautiful and light I thought this skirt was perfect!! I don't know if anyone remembers but this is actually the skirt from my very first post. The thing I like about it is that it transitions well between weather and since I live in Alabama, the weather is insanely random. I know that the print is recognizable, but I like that because it poses a challenge for me to mix it up without looking the same. Oh, you may be wondering why no head today, not wearing makeup right then and trust me you don't want to see this!
My Outift:
Teal Shirt- $3, Walmart
Brown floral skirt- $4, Cato
Belt- $2, thrifted
Sandals- $1, Cato
Necklace- gifted, for graduation
Earrings- $1, Dollar tree
Total Cost: $11
A very bad close-up of my necklace:

Okay, I cannot express into words how much I loooove these sandals!! I bought them during winter, when the stores are just dying to get rid of their leftover summer stuff, this is actually how I buy most things, I very rarely shop in-season. At any rate, perfectly good sandals only $1.

Michelle Obama Challenge

I feel like such a lady today. Michelle Obama has such a wonderful, streamlined, classic, ladylike style about her. Her look seems so easy and no fuss, but I'll tell you it took me a good minute to figure out what to wear- this is what I came up with. I love the jewel tones that Mrs. O usually rocks, I've also noticed she's a big fan of cardigans (as am I), so I thought that I'd rock both out in one garment. I also love what she does with her brooches, so I tried my hand at it. Even though Mrs. O doesn't usually wear hose/tights, you guys just aren't ready for the whiteness that would be if I didn't put some one ;) I also rocked the flats just like the lovely first lady (I, however, am a sad 5'7"). You know what's funny? My fiance and I argued about whether or not Mrs. O wore flats, he claimed that "no, she wears heels!" I said, "oh, you dear thing, you have no clue!" I explained that I would have to school him later!! hehe...

My Outfit:
Black turtleneck- $5, F21
Blue cardigan- $4, thrifted (Merona)
Black pencil skirt- $10, Ross
Pointy toe flats- $8, Payless
Scalloped nude tights- $3, Old Navy
Middle brooch- free with purchase of blouse
Brooch (on your right)- $0.80, thrifted
Brooch (on your left)- Vintage (my grandmother's)
Earrings- $1, thrifted
Pearl bracelet- gifted
Total Cost- $31.80

My camera cut off my feet, so these are the flats that I'm wearing.

How do I love thee..

Oh my goodness, it is absolutely ridiculous how much I love this skirt!! I have been dying to wear it, bought it about a month ago at Old Navy. My mom and stepdad gave me a $50 gift card to there and you wouldn't believe me if I told, but I'll tell you anyway, I got 16 items and only went $15 over the gift card amount....and this skirt was one of my finds!! I love how springy, yet almost seductive the flowers feel, plus I think that the stripes add a little something interesting to it too. It's taken me awhile to think of an outfit to put together with it, but I really like this one!!
My Outfit:
Black turtleneck- $5, F21
Purple/fushia scoopneck blouse- $6, Old Navy
Black Cardigan- $3, thrifted
Floral Skirt-$2, Old Navy
tights- $5, Walmart (George)
Black wedge peep-toes- $3, thrifted
Brooch- $0.80, thrifted
Earrings- $1, Walmart (3-pack, $3 total)
Necklace- $1, Dollar Store
Total Cost- $26.80

Just having some fun!!

I can't believe I actually found these gems at the thrift store, I mean I've found clothes and such and occasionally look at the shoes, but haven't found any until now! I love the knotted detail at the toe! Oh, I found another pair of heels a lot like these but with a closed toe and a little sleeker, assuming someone donated both pairs.

Oh, and I was trying to explain why my pics may look a little crooked, it's because this is my very high tech setup. That little thing on top of the bucket is actually my tripod, cute isn't it?! It's just not wanting to support the weight of the camera completely, can you blame it, it's so tiny!!

Hey I'm new here

Hello!!

Alright!! I'm totally stoked to start this blog!! I have been perusing quite a few blogs for several months now and have been saying that I need to start one too! Why, do you ask, well I'll tell you why....

For several reasons:
1. To build up my confidence.....it's not that I'm lacking in confidence, but I want it to translate through my clothing that I know who I am and that I may just rock your world. I want to be able to enter a room and have people think "man that girl must know what she's doing"....at any rate I want to be able to hold my head higher because I know that I look good.

2. To get to know my body better.......by this I don't mean that I don't know the way my body looks, I do, I just want to find out how to better compliment my body through clothing. I have a very womanly body, which I love, I have a large bust and "child birthing hips," very curvy...I don't want to lose my silhouette I want to accentuate my form.

3. To take risks......I want to reach out of my comfort zone a little bit and dabble in different things, I like to keep it fresh and new and leave them guessing "what next?"

So that's why in a nutshell. In addition to these reasons, I am currently working on my masters degree and am a firm believer in dressing for the job I want, not necessarily the job I have, because I'm otherwise a waitress (not the most glamorous wardrobe). I believe that a first impression is a lasting impression, so when I'm not waiting tables I try to look my best. That being said, I will probably not post on the weekend, as I have a tendency to work all day on the weekends, but I should have a fair number of posts a week.

Whew....gosh I swear I'm going to stop talking soon....finally, I was hoping that anyone viewing this blog would offer me some constructive criticism, thoughts, views, opinions, etc... It would be greatly appreciated!!

So, without further ado....My first outfit details!
