Silk Wash

Story about this blouse:

I thrifted it, it appeared to be brand new if not barely worn. Whenever I thrift things they get washed immediately, let's face it not the cleanest places in the whole wide world. So I proceed to wash everything- got a bunch of stuff. As I'm pulling the laundry from the washer, I notice the texture of this blouse is different. Horror strikes, I look at the label- yep 100% silk. Yeah, you don't wash silk....I'm an idiot!!

Oh, well it was a whole $2, but I'm still wearing it...it didn't really get totally ruined, it's just not the same buttery feeling against my skin.

My Outfit:

Polka dot blouse- $2, thrifted

Cardi- $2, thrifted

Jeans- $20, Express

Flats- $13, Burlington

Brooch- free with purchase

Earrings-$2, Walmart

Total Cost: $39

I had actually planned on wearing the lovely polka dots with this red cardigan:

But the cut was all wrong, you see the magnificent ruffles of the blouse had to be framed in all their glory, this cardigan would have totally taken away from the ruffleness.

Fisherman

I really like this outfit, until I came home to my husband asking, "baby, you going fly fishing?" You know that kind of put a little chink in my armor, but I don't dress for him, I dress for me. No big deal right?!
Wrong!!
I so did not enjoy looking at myself in these pics, which must be why I only took one.
I think I just had too much going on...
I was trying to be comfortable- had exams and I thought this was a better answer than a hoodie, jeans, and a hat (at least one that isn't cute)
I came off as a big mess!!
Oh well, fashion blunders happen I guess...
It's funny because I like these pieces all separately, but apparently their powers combine, they are a serious fashion felony (you were thinking I was going to say CAPTAIN PLANET, weren't you- it's okay, I'm singing the theme song right now too;)

My seriously dreadful outfit:
Hat- gifted
Gray sweater- $7, Target
Crochet tank- $4, Old Navy
Vest- $3, Old Navy
Jeans- hand me downs
Earrings- $3, Walmart
Belt- $6, Walmart
Rain boots- $15, Target
Total cost: $38

Easy Breezy

Lately, I've been so busy, I don't seem to have the time to really "plan" my outfits, but I've been noticing that sometimes less really is more.

I swear I don't make him pose! He's a little pre-madonna!

My outfit:

Pink tank- $3, Old Navy

Black sheer blouse- $5, Express

Khakis- $4, Thrifted (Target)

Earrings- gifted

Flats- $13, Burlington

Total Cost: $25

I can't believe I haven't worn these yet! Super comfortable and very versatile!

I'm afraid this is going to be the last time I wear these, a faux stone popped out...maybe I'll refashion it somehow....

Pity Party for 1 please!

Hello there my lovely blogging friends, I thought I'd take a minute out of my awful, no good, down right bad day (tell me you remember the book!?!- oh come on!!). Yep, it's actually part of the reason I haven't been on in a minute. I am having a bad week...ok two weeks...ok month...ah forget it- the whole semester sucks!!! I often have a full plate, I am very experienced in juggling 85 million things at one time, but man I think I'm losing steam...
Let me see where to start?... Oh yes, I have 5 exams this week (yup, midterms- yippee!), on top of those I have a lab report to turn in, research to catch up on, work, and oh yeah I'm making a friends wedding cake and groom's cake this weekend!!!
I know I'm crazy....I am sooooooo tired, I got a whopping 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, the crazy part is that I was exhausted, but my mind keeps racing I can't seem to turn it off.
Confession: I was actually thinking about what I was going to say in this post- that's right I think about you guys in my dreams.
I hate that I've been away, but if it's any consolation at all, when ever I have a few minutes to spare, I do get on and check out all your awesome blogs- might be interested to know that you guys help me maintain some semblance of normalcy... thank you!!
At any rate, I'll quick crying over my keyboard. I'm actually wearing something sort of cute today, so you shall hear from me again....what? Two post in one day- I know out of control!!!
I just wanted to drop you all a line and tell you: I miss you!!

Jazz Hands!!

This was Tuesday. I was running late, so I chose something very basic, but at the last minute decided to add a little bit of interest and throw on a scarf as a belt- it's my interpretation of jazz hands, in clothing form!! I loved the look, but perhaps next time I'll chose a pair of pants that fit me really well, so I'm not pulling them up all the time- no the most practical belt of all!!

My Outfit:
Black tee- $3, Walmart
Jeans- hand me downs
Flats- $10, Burlington Coat Factory
Scarf- $1, AC Moore (yea, the craft place)
Necklace- made by me
CZ studs- gifted
Total Cost: $14
Love these, just got them with some of my birthday money!!
Man I love birthdays!

Necklace close-up:

Ollie, modeling the scarf- can't you see the versatility?!

That's it, I'm signing him up to be a pet model!!

Rainy days and mondays

This was Monday, I'm a bit behind on my posting, I've been pretty busy with school...ahh..it'll be over soon. I was actually wearing my tall black boots and a cardigan belted because the weather said that there was a 50% chance of rain. So the whole day I'm walking around campus looking like a big old idiot carrying a HUGE umbrella in absolutely beautiful blue skies!! Needless to say I took off the cardigan, and thankfully, switched into a pair of flats I had in my car! So, here's my improve outfit:
My Outfit:
Pink blouse- $2.50, thrifted
Black cami- $4, JC Penney
Black (off black) trousers- gifted, Victoria Secret
Flats- $7, Ebay (American Eagle)
Earrings- $2, Cato's
Total Cost: $15.50

Close-up of the Earrings:

I love the bow on these:
